I’ve always had mixed feelings about Trent Reznor’s releases since he’s dived headlong into releasing free music, and he himself has had mixed results (see his open letter response to the ‘Niggy Tardust’ release on his blog, for example) but you cannot deny he’s serious about setting standards and making an impact.
ItalTek, in my opinion, is not only a great producer, but also embraces the idea that free music and paid music can live side by side without great stress. In testament to that (If you don’t already know his amazing Net-Lab releases), here is the new homepage for his self-publishing label AtomRiver, featuring a free download of Lightning Fields as well as links to buy the physical and MP3 releases (below).

The Primer compilations are an introduction to the latest ThisIsOpenMusic! releases. Each batch of new music will include a preview download PLUS some bonus tracks from other friends of Open.
