Submissions

Open Music is always looking for new music to release. If you’d like to submit some music to us, then please read the instructions below.

  • MP3 submissions must be encoded to 320kbps. We don’t accept WMV/OGG/FLAC/WAV etc.
  • MP3 submissions must be properly ID3 tagged including Track Number, Track Title, Artist Name, Album Name, and Year. Embed the artwork if you wish but don’t worry if you don’t know how to do this; we will embed any art pre-release.
  • You must agree to your music released under the Creative Commons Sharing License. If you submit music, we will assume that you accept this condition.
  • If at this stage you wish to send artwork, this must be a high quality JPEG/PDF/TIFF of at least 800px square. If you do not have any artwork, don’t worry, we can design this for you.
  • Please include a little biography about yourself as it relates to your music [100-200 words is sufficient] plus a portrait photo of you – we won’t use abstracted or heavily photoshop’ed images so please don’t send them.

When all this is ready, upload a Zip/RAR file to an online space such as Mediafire or YouSendIt, then fill in the submission form below, making sure to paste links to your myspace/website and the uploaded ZIP/RAR into the correct boxes. You can also use our Soundcloud DropBox.

We’ll try to get back to you within 2 weeks of submitting your material. If you have any questions, email us at submissions@thisisopenmusic.com before or after submitting and we’ll be more than happy to answer them.

Thanks,

Open Music

  • Who Are We?

Launched in November 2008, ThisIsOpenMusic is an open source music label run by musicians. We operate from Brighton, UK. Open is run by Piratio but is greatly helped by John Cohen & Leo Piggot.

We don’t believe in the conventional record label. OpenMusic’s objective is to release great music and sound projects from around the world, in a free, share-friendly and re-distributable manner. We encourage you to redistribute individual tracks or whole releases via sharing links, Peer-to-Peer networks, MP3 Blogs and any other form you see fit, as long as you respect the rights of the respective Artists and follow the rules of the Creative Commons Sharing License.

  • Love Us!
