John Cohen Portrait

I can remember tapping on the dinner table with my knife and fork, beat boxing with my brother, and composing piano pieces from really early on in my childhood. I think I’m still a bit like that today; the only difference is it’s done with sub-oscillators, spectral gates and the like. One of the most important aspects of my work is trying to keep it organic, not too stiff, which is why my tracks are usually peppered with improvisation, to just ‘go with the flow’ and ‘if it sounds cool then use it’.
